Windows 10 or Windows 11 lock up

I have installed both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and each of them are having lockups. It will reboot and go to the "Starting boot option" screen and hang.error.jpg

Hi,
please post the output of pveversion -v. What version of the VirtIO drivers did you use? Is there anything in the host's system logs/journal around the time the issue happens? Does the hang happen directly after installation?

I'll monitor logs and post here if something remarkable shows up.

It will reboot okay after installation, but after that it becomes really unstable.

What physical CPU model do you have? Are the latest BIOS updates and CPU microcode (the deb package is called amd64-microcode or intel-microcode) installed?

If you have a single node or all nodes in your cluster have the same CPU, you can try setting the VM's CPU type to host instead of x86-64-v2-AES.
