Hello.

I have proxmox version 3.2-4 with two vm's. Ubuntu and Windows 7.
After a power surge the Windows 7 VM became unavailable. The VM starts and stops normaly, but i can't access or even ping the VM. Console times out so i cannot see whats would happen during boot.

The ubuntu VM is on the same disk and works OK.

If i reboot the whole PVE i can see that the W7VM is stuck in "starting" at the bootlog.

Can you guys help me how to address this problem? What info do you need to help diagnose?

Please show VM configuration.
Did you install from original ISO, not modified "compilation"?

The windows 7 is a modified iso, but it has worked for almost two years.

I hope these are the configurations you mentioned, let me know if is anything else. (attached)

Make sure you have enough free space on your storage and inside VM.
Try to replace virtio disk device to IDE.

Change type VM disk to IDE, take windows live CD iso image, connect it to VM and boot from these CD, check file system on VM disk and explore it. After that, revert back type VM disk and try boot VM.

update:
I managed to get the console working after reinstalling java and access by internet explorer.

I could see my win7 vm was in recovery mode.

Uptade to at least 3.4 and use NoVNC console which faster, accessible from any browser and no needed for Java.
