We are observing a strange behaviour on a HP Server which is newly installed w Proxmox 2.3-13:
After installing (installation works fine) windows 7 machines they do not boot. After bios messages they stop at 'booting from harddisk'.
We tried different iso files ( which all worked good on a Proxmox 2.2 machine).

What makes it more weird: The vm cant even boot from cd (iso files) until the virtual hard disk with the stalling system is removed.

We tried virtio and IDE. Same result.

Any idea anyone?

Regards, Holger

works here. post your 'pveversion -v'

Code:
root@testprox:~# pveversion -v
pve-manager: 2.3-13 (pve-manager/2.3/7946f1f1)
running kernel: 2.6.32-19-pve
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 2.3-95
pve-kernel-2.6.32-16-pve: 2.6.32-82

I now dd'ed a working win 7 vm from Prox 2.2 machinwe into an empty vm of the same size. Same result.
We have a Win 2008 Server running on that machine which was dd'ed also with no problem.

OK, installed another vm with a freshly build iso and it is running with no issues. So maybe after all it was still one/some faulty iso files.

Thank you for your attention, Holger

I had this similar issue. In my case when i changed the boot virtual hdd to IDE instead of SATA or iSCSI type, it booted right away. Also check the boot sequence in vm Option Tab. Changing first boot priority to the boot hdd instead of CD-Rom might also help.
