@Tom;

Have you been following this thread?

I've also tried Win Server 2008 (std) x64 and it too fails with 0x0000005D error (with the -nx flag set or not);

It's seeming like I can't get any OS to run on this machine?

This is the output from 'cat /proc/cpuinfo'

Is there any way I can get Server 08 or preferably Server 12 running on this Proxmox environment or should I give up (keep in mind that if I run Server 2012 directly on the server, is works fine)? I'm running out of time on this project.

Thanks
Anubis.

Hi,

just wanted to add my solution. I had exactly the same problem on a Dell T620 with E5-2620 CPUs. I changed the CPU type to Sandy Bridge, and after that the installation works.

Re: Win 2012 on HP Proliant DL360 G4 results in 'Your PC needs to restart' error mess

Hi All,

I'm just trying to setup a Win 2012 setup on one of our HP Proliant DL360 G4 and I'm getting the following error message when trying to boot:

Your PC needs to restart
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x0000005D
Parameters:
0x00000000178BFBF9
0x000000002193FBF9
0x0000000000000000
0x0000000000000000

Looking this error up in google suggests that 'Execute Bit Disabled' needs to be enabled in the server's BIOS which it is, but I'm still getting this error.

I've tried several different 'CPU' options for the VM; kvm64, qemu64, host; but all return the same error.

How can I specify for the VM that Execute Bit is disabled?

Thanks
Anubis.

64 Bit Operating systems cannot fuction without the full virtualization features of a DLg5 or newer proc. I am fairly certian that Windows 2012 runs hyper-v as its underlying tech. So if you do not have full virtualization , it will fail.
