Why use Ceph ?

Created this out of curiosity any ideas why i should use it ?
Is this a competitor to zfs ?

If you want all the nice enterprise features of ZFS but also need a shared storage for your HA cluster you want CEPH. With CEPH you can spread your storage across all nodes so your data is always available even when a server (or multiple) fails.

this is better than backing up to NAS Server. But I need to have the second node of Proxmox then...
Currently, I am trying to learn Proxmox this might become important thanks for the answers.

Data protection(distribution) is NOT backup. It can not be better.

A proper Ceph installation requires at least 3 nodes, same goes for PVE cluster.
