Why no configuration for UPS?

Hi All - while I have successfully set up NUT for UPS monitoring and shutdown, why is there no web interface built into Proxmox to configure your UPS? I see both pfSense and even Synology - both using NUT - have the ability to configure your UPS but I am curious why this is not included in Proxmox.

Thanks!

What many people always forget is that it is a hypervisor that runs in a data center. In a data center there are large UPS systems that are provided by the data center operator, so I neither have access to them nor do I need them. In this respect, your request will probably affect the minority of users. At least I personally don't need it.

I totally agree with @Newfoundland.Republic that PVE should include UPS management/setup. I also personally installed/incorporated NUT server management on my PVE system, but Proxmox should provide this inhouse.

As far as @sb-jw points out a valid opinion, many (non-cloud) data centers still install various UPS monitoring/management software on each server.

It all depends on the situation. In my day job, like you our main data centres have large banks of backup batteries to cover the time the generators start. However, there are small offices where virtualization is used and in those cases they are on smaller UPSes...

Admittedly I'm new to proxmox after using HyperV to date, but in setting up proxmox I found myself searching for this very subject and additionally would like to see an easy config for shutdown timing, order and what to do on start up - not just assume the reverse order. Something that doesn't require scripting. The service can default to off and turned on for those who do.

I believe hypervisors are used in various environments including large datacenters yes. I assume datacenters also need a failure protocol in case ups batteries run low and generators don't kick in. I can think of two times I have experienced this with cloud hosted servers.

I expect there are also a lot of proxmox instances installed in businesses, institutions, home labs that rely on UPS for emergency power where orderly shutdown would be needed.
