Why is Promox not recognizing USB ports as USB 3.0?

I have a Dell Precision 7910 Workstation with PVE 7.4-3 installed and I have a Home Assistant VM running there. I have connected two USB devices to the back panel but PVE recognizes them as USB 1.x/2.0 but never as USB 3.0. I have checked the MB for this workstation and it says on the manufacturer's website those ports are USB 3.0. What I am missing here?

This is how PVE recognizes the connected devices:

Manufcaturer's docs say in this link and this other link those ports are USB 3.0. Connected devices SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB say is USB 3.0. The second one tho Nooelec RTL-SDR v5 Bundle does not say a thing about what USB speed it supports.

This is a Zigbee 3.0 dongle with USB. I've never seen an USB 3 version and it does not make any sense. It simulates a serial interface, so USB 1.0 speed is enough, same as shown in your screenshot.

Connect a "real" USB 3.x stick or hard disc enclosure to the port and you may see that it will be recognized as USB 3.x

In general: Look inside of the USB connector, if you only see 4 leads it's USB 1.x/2.x. If you see more, it's most probable USB 3.x and above.
Please refer to this explanation.

Also have a look at the options your BIOS offers. Here on the supermicro servers I got a "XHCI" option and when set to "auto" or "disabled" the mainboards USB3 ports will only work in USB2 mode.

on my H11SSL-i, XHCI is set to "enabled" yet inside Proxmox 8.0 all 3 USB 3.0 ports on the mainboard show up as USB 2.0 and also only offer USB 2 speeds.

*edit* just in case someone else stumbles over this.... in my case it was the USB-A to USB-C cable which limited the extrenal SSD to USB2.
Changed the cable, now its USB3 XD
