I'm seeing this quite often now. I have a 2 node cluster. When i click on it, it sometimes refreshes and I'm able to see the name of VM but sometimes nothing. When i do a refresh a few times, i'm able to see them all

For info sake for those who may know the answer. Is the qemu-guest-agent service running on all of them?
I would assume they are running and healthy otherwise.

yes, i have guest agents on all of them, its just weird that it refreshes and shows up fine after some time. I'm assuming the guest agent might have a role but what if the VM is shut down. it shouldnt show me this but the VM's name and that its shutdown. I have just that icon & the VMID. nothing more

Is that screen capture looking at the "Data Center" list or on one of the nodes? Do you have a Pi or something as a qdevice for quorum? Are those with a ? on one node, and the others are on the other node? When you see the ? and they are always on the same node as the other ?, and if you don't have a qdevice (for a 3rd vote) I'd say that is the problem.

The question marks in UI are usually due to delays in pvestatd processing. Are those VMs hosted by the cluster member which you are not logged into?

Check the log files, i.e. journalctl on both nodes. If you use an external metrics server - sporadic return from it could cause pvestatd hiccups.
Is your storage responsive to health checks at all times from all nodes?
Check the API logs in /var/log/pveproxy.
Confirm your networking between the nodes: pings, MTU, etc.

Good luck

The GUI status which shows whether the VM is running/stopped/paused/etc does not come from QEMU agent.

I waited for a day & its back. it happens on both nodes in the cluster. Should i switch my quorum device to another machine?
