which zfs server to use?

We want to set up a zfs server to test _ZFS_over_iSCSI . I'm researching which zfs platform to use. Per the wiki solaris based platforms with Comstar are recommended.....To those using the new zfs storage plugin for production : which zfs server are you using?

I think you are confused;-) The new zfs storage plugin is for running zfs locally on the proxmox server and you are referring to zfs over iscsi? If your intentions are for a zfs based storage server then my best recommendation is using omnios for OS. Omnios has just this morning release 151014 which is a new LTS release.

I was born confused, no added class or concussion was needed ;-) .What I want is have PVE backups do ZFS snapshots . Then use send / receive to push the snapshots to backup system .Can that be done when running zfs locally?

Yes, but you have to do in manually. There is no functionally for doing send/receive in the gui.

I have a pve on zfs system, and the backup of the one vm , a vz , it does not look like zfs snapshot is used.Are zfs snapshot backups only for kvm?
