Hi,

I am currently using vmware esxi hosts (9 nodes) and willing to migrate to proxmox.

I just cant decide which version to start with.

There will be production guests running, so i want to stick with the stable tree, but, on the other hand, i want to upgrade to 2.0 as soon as it is released.

I guess it will be an easy upgrade from 2.0 beta, to 2.0 release, will it be same for upgrading from 1.9 to 2.0 release ?

Hi,
yes that's not easy. I would say, that's depends on your production-VMs. I have one pve2 running in production - but the VM on this machine is only internal but important (a backup-server).
But if you have 9 nodes why don't use both versions? It's also possible to move VMs from a pve1.x-node to pve2.x node (handmade copy of config and disks (or backup-file) and little changes in the config-file) but only with down-time (and to copy huge diskfiles can take (too) much time).

thanks for your comment.

In that case, i dont need any pve2-beta around for now;
when it is released,
i can move all guests from one of the 1.9 nodes, clean install 2.0-release on that, move some guests on it....
and convert all 1.9 nodes to 2.0 one by one.

yes that sounds OK to me :D
