Which node are notifications sent from in a cluster?

If I set up notifications via sendmail or smtp, which hypervisor does a cluster send them from? I have a 5 node cluster.

In the case of Proxmox Backup Notifications, the node in the cluster who did the backup sends the email.
So my gut feeling is every node in the cluster will try to send email.

That is also my understand. The node that "sees" it, reports it.
