What kind of maintenance should I do?

I'm using proxmox hoping to get used to it and maybe replace all the vmware stuff we're using.

I've had a cluster up and running for some time now, months.
Everything seems to be just fine but I feel like there is some maintenance I should be doing even if all is working right.

Can anyone shed some light on this aspect?

Most maintenance stuff should be storage related. What type of storage you are using?

You already created a disaster recovery plan? Existing backups of guests and hosts /etc folders? External monitoring is set up? Postfix configued for mail notifications? Storages and config files already optimized?

Hi,

Yes, there is a plan for recovery.
The storage is both local and backed over network storage (SAN).
Yes, apps/dbs are auto backed up daily, weekly and monthly.

But I was mostly asking about proxmox itself, not so much the general topic of managing resources .
Is there anything specific to proxmox that folks keep an eye out for?
Everything seems to be working just fine which is when I think about these things.

Sure there is always stuff you could do via CLI. Like automated SMART selftests with email notifications, ZFS scrubs, zfs-zed email notifications on pool degradation, trimming LVM LXCs (pct fstrim), setup some monitoring agents like Zabbix, cleaning up old logs, checking /var/tmp or failed ISO uploads, monitor and analyze logs for problems (intrusion, oom and so on), ...

So pretty much nothing more than I'm doing as it is.
I figured there might be some other things like updating the OS (which I do), updating the qemu guest agent now and then and some other housekeeping tasks for the OS itself.
