What is the number option for Bus/Device used for?

When creating a VM there's the Bus/Device option(s).

I understand the difference between IDE, SATA, VirtIO Block and SCSI but then there's a number box next to those options where you can enter a number between 1 and 3 for IDE, 1 and 5 for SATA, 1 and 15 for VirtIO Block, 1 and 13 for SCSI.

What is that for? Is it just the device # for the drive? Like if I were to add multiple VirtIO drives? I've always left it at the default 0 so not sure what it's used for.

the number is for the port number of the vdisk.
