Hi everybody, I have a spare server that I would like to add in my cluster to use as a backup storage and to send replicated VM.
What kind of sharing protocl would suit the best for that purpose, smb, cifs, etc... ?

I am also curious to know how you manage backups with proxmox since it doesn't handle incremental/diferential (which would be great by the way).
I tried bacula & bareos but I find them to complex to configure.

Any suggestions ?

Hi,

Without details, your question sound like, what is the best brake system for my car? And someone respod that for his own car the best is .... (he use a 5000 kg track vehicle ;) Sorry @Linxbill !

Maybe you can try like this: " Thx. @LinxBill for your response. If I kindly ask if you can write some details? Thx in advance". But maybe I am wrong ;)

That's not wrong, but I already explained that he should search the forum, so my brakes are discussed in at least half a dozen threads. In there is also a link to my presentation (german only) from ProxTalks 2017 about optimised ZFS-based backups:
