What do I need to change to enable making snaphots?

When I try to make a snapshot of an LXC it says: The current guest configuration does not support taking new snapshots.
Why is that?

hmm.... just had a quick look at my other containers and VMs. All of them have the same issue, except one. As far as I can see the difference is the disk format: qcow2 vs raw.
Is that the reason?
This could depend on the type of storage your VM's disk is hosted on.
For example, a network mount in iSCSI does not allow snapshots to be taken.

ZFS, CEPH or NFS allow you to take snapshots.
Yes, answered my own question. And LXC disks cannot be easily converted to qcow2 without making the containers unbootable.
Never mind, I will make scripts to easily recreate them when needed.
if you can make snapshots of LXC depends on the storage(s) you are using. For an overview check out this table
And also keep in mind that every filesystem of that LXC needs snapshot capability or none of them will be snapshotable. Be aware of that when working with bind-mounts and so on.
