I have uploaded a windows 2003 iso, installed it and all worked perfectly!:)

There is only one thing that I completely forgot! I did not set any public IP. Any idea how I can do that?

I tried setting it directly in the windows (through webbased vnc viewer), but this did not work unfortunately.

Any idea's what I can do without reinstalling windows?

Thanks!

You need to configure the network on the windows box. its just the same as you install a windows on a normal hardware.

and make sure you have a network card configured on KVM. I suggest you start with rtl8139 (which is recognized by default in all windows OS). if you got networking, download the latest Intel network drivers .

Now, shut down and remove the rtl8139 nic and add e1000. after boot, install the previously downloaded drivers. (e1000 is the most stable for windows).

I used e1000 (intel onboard nic), and after install, the interface was detected without issues.

My PROXMOX node is running on ip x.x.x.5, I set the windows interface op x.x.x.6, but eventhough the changes are done, the .6 ip is not working at all.

I suspect I need to add/set it in the proxmox webinterface somewhere? Cause at the moment only .5 is added and set in proxmox.

the included network driver for e1000 (from windows install CD) does not work. you need the latest as I posted before.

At the moment, the windows VM does not have a working internet connection, so there is no way I can download the latest e1000 drivers.

The current e1000 drivers inside windows are working though, the nic is detected, but the ip isn't. I suspect it is a problem with bridges or private ips orso.

Anyway, I deleted the e1000 in proxmox, and added rtl8139, but now the windows vm is hanging.

yes, this is a known issue with the built in e1000 driver. the windows side look ok but it is not ok.

try boot without nic, last known, safe mode, etc.

the recommended way is described above: start with rtl, download drivers, change to e1000

Ok got the windows vm running without nic. Then added the rtl8139, restarted the vm multiple times, but the nic is not found!

I will probably need e1000, but how can I put it inside the vm without internet (downloading it to vm)?

if you change the hardware on a KVM machine you need to poweroff and start afterwards. doing a restart does not activate the hardware changes.
