It seem to work on a standard installation. So did you change anything notable after the installation?

Sorry, I cant reproduce the error. We installed several times, and vztop works here as expected.

I tried to install it on my local Workstation...

everything seems to work here... so i guess the Problem on the other system seems to be a Hardware specific problem...

The Server is a Root Server (DS8000) from Hetzner with HW-Raid and Dual Core AMD64 CPU....

This should not be the problem - I'm running VE on just this type of server. It works like a charm. No vztop-problems at all.
I think something got wrong on installation. Did you request the ISO burned on CD and a bootabel CD-ROM-Drive connected to your server or did you have an alternative installation method?

Yes that was exactly what i've done...

I requested the ISO burned on CD and a bootabel CD-ROM-Drive connected to my server.

I have no other install options... :(

Is it a newly installed server, or did you reinstall one you had already in use?

Maybe you have a HW problem just on that specific one.

On your place I'd just shell out another 25€ and have another ISO burned and ....

I'll try it on another one (Server already in use without PVE) ... ;)

btw: many thanx for your hints... :D

Solved!

I found the "bug" ;)

unfortunately i used the standard "top", changed to Color-Mode and afterwards, i saved the settings by pressing "W".

The file ~/.toprc was created...

When i then start vztop the Error: Wrong configuration option is displayed

After that i deleted the ~/.toprc and all is ok again :D

Sounds like something for the todo list:
Change "vztop" to use ~/.vztoprc instead of ~/.toprc

I get the same error as OP.

(Oops, I replied before reading the whole thread. Same .toprc issue..)
