This should not be the problem - I'm running VE on just this type of server. It works like a charm. No vztop-problems at all.so i guess the Problem on the other system seems to be a Hardware specific problem...
The Server is a Root Server (DS8000) from Hetzner with HW-Raid and Dual Core AMD64 CPU....
Is it a newly installed server, or did you reinstall one you had already in use?
Maybe you have a HW problem just on that specific one.
On your place I'd just shell out another 25€ and have another ISO burned and ....
