I'm currently running ESXi 6.5u3, on a ProLiant DL580 G7. I'm considering migrating to Proxmox VE, on a ProLiant DL580 Gen9. My initial plan, of migrating to ESXi 8.X instead, has been thrown into uncertainty by Broadcom's most recent changes. I've read through the migration and ZFS documentation a few times, but still have a few unknowns to address.
Sorry if any of these questions are dumb. Trying to address as many potential pitfalls as I can, before I attempt migration.
- My initial (ESXi 8) plan involved a TrueNAS Scale VM for managing mass storage. Would there be any benefit to me using that anymore?
- Some of my VMs use RDMs, due to limitations of my current setup. Can these VMs be migrated? If so, how?
- Has anyone successfully used PCI/PCIe Passthrough on a DL580 Gen9?
- Is there any official documentation on TPM passthrough or vTPM?
