VMDK Format Issue

Hello All,
Just started testing KVM on Proxmox and when installing Scientific linux 6.1 the format takes forever compared to Raw and it then freezes

Settings were Virtio and vmdk defaults.

difference was with raw it was installed and rebooted before the VMDK format had finished the format and Frozen.

Btw what are the best settings for linux kvm machines.

I am planning on using a zfs nfs store

are you sure that its a vmdk issue and not a zfs/nfs issue?

test with local storage first.

raw (or block devices) is recommended.
