I have exported several VM Disks from our Proxmox server to vmdk. One converted using the GUI by moving the disk to a NAS and selecting vmdk as the destination type, and one using the qemu-img convert command line. One is a Windows VM the other Linux. Both give the same results.
When I create a new VM in both ESXi and using VMWare Workstation, I can see the disks, but when the new VM is booted, it fails to boot, wi the error no media.
I even ran a VMWare compress on the drive to make it a thin disk. The compress worked, but still reporting no media when booting.
What am I missing? Why do these drives not allow me to boot from them in VMWare products?
