Hello,

I'm getting the following error after creating a VM (KVM) and trying to start it - I've setup using ZFS RAID 0;

kvm: -drive file=/var/lib/vz/images/100/vm-100-disk-1.qcow2,if=none,id=drive-ide0,format=qcow2,aio=native,cache=none,detect-zeroes=on: file system may not support O_DIRECT

Hi,
try another cache settings for your harddrive (cache=writethrough).

Udo

Yes, we're going to setup external backups.

I'll try a different cache and update here shortly.

Thanks,

Mike

OK, changing it to Write Through fixed it. Is there a specific reason this is needed?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi,
I use external backups also - but I would never ever use RAID 0 in production!!
And also not at home (I like my private pictures and don't want to loose it).

If one HDD fails (and this will happens, and normaly at a time you don't like) you lost all.

Then you have an downtime till you installed/restore all you VMs.
You have dataloss between last backup and recovered time!
Perhaps much more trouble because of open databases, which are not valid in the backup.

The only thing, where you can think about RAID 0 IMHO is in an DRBD-scenario.
