Hello,

I wanted to know how PVE processes the snapshot. How the contents of each snapshot is stored on disk ?
How to access the data of specific snapshot without rollback to snapshot, ie outside VM , can we mount some file , how to get information of snapshot files ?

Thanks

Hi,

the snapshots of the guest disks are done via the storage layer or for VMs with qcow2/rbd via QEMU itself. For live snapshots of VMs, the RAM and device state is saved as a raw state file in QEMU's migration stream format.

Again, that highly depends on the storage. What kind of storage are you using?
