Hi everyone, if I connect the PBS storage from a node outside the cluster, can I restore the backup VMs it contains? Thank you

Hi!

Yes, this is possible. Just add the Proxmox Backup Server as Proxmox VE storage, and you should see all backups.

Note that if you had setup client-encryption on the source node(s) you need to also upload the encryption key to the new node.

Thanks, I wrote this for absurd hypothesis of cluster disaster and therefore have the possibility of recovery on another cluster or node. I thought it could be done as the pbs is configured on the cluster as simple storage. Thank you for your answer .

I have one pbs server which i backup my local pve cluster vms to "datastore1"
i also have a pbs sync job syncing an external (remote) pve host to this local pbs server in a different datastore "datastore2"
when adding this "datastore2" to my local cluster i don't see the backed up vms from the sync job why ?

does the storage show up with pvesm status as active? Are the user and permissions configured correctly?
