hi,

VM is not booting after conversion of .vmdk to .qcow2, pls can anyone help me.

what i did,

step 1: i converted my pc (c-drive:250gb) to .vmdk file using vmware standalone converter

step 2: created one vm (id-100) with 250 disk size using localdisk (qcow2) on proxmox

step 3: uploaded .vmdk file to proxmox using winscp app. into location /var/lib/vz/images/vmid(100)

step 4: and i deleted default .qcow2 file and i converted .vmdk into .qcow2 using qemu-img tool

After succesfull conversion i turned on the vm but the vm is not booting. it is strucked at "BOOTING FROM HDD....."
Thanks in advance!!!!!!

I'm not sure but I think you must use when you convert with VM converter as HDD interface SCSI.

hi,

your reply-"I'm not sure but I think you must use when you convert with VM converter as 'HDD interface SCSI'."

i am not understood about HDD interface SCSI please explain in clearly

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
you can choose an Interface Type when you add a Disk!
Now you remove your disk (Only one time!!) an then it will be shown as Unused Disk in the GUI.
if you double click on the disk you can choose an interface (Bus/Device).

hi

Have you tried to boot from rescue cd (windows cd, if vm is win) and try to repair bootloader?
Can you verify that you see the contents of hdd from there(data)?
Use ide drive instead of virtio for this procedure for simplicity.
Finally if you manage to boot correctly you can install virtio drivers.
