When I select a VM and the Monitor option, all I see is "Type 'help' for help." Anyone seen this before?

Hi,

this is completely normal and expected - this menu provides direct access to the QEMU monitor, which can be though of as low-level access to the hypervisor. Reading through the linked manual might be helpful, if you want to understand this better.

I didn't have this issue with PVE 7.X.

How do I start/config QEMU monitor?

What exactly is your issue?

In case you are expecting to see the (graphical) output/display of the guest, then you need to choose: "Console"...

To be clear, this also isn't an issue. Everything is working as expected there.
If you really want/need to use the QEMU monitor, just start typing in the command field.

If you instead want the VM Console, choose "Console" on the sidebar, as Neobin already suggested.

I hate to bring up this old issue, but I have installed PVE 8.x and am now on PVE 9. And still the question remains, what is the "Monitor" option for? Typing help gives no messages. The Help Button takes you to the top of the documentation with no reference to "monitor".

I keep exploring all that PVE can do for me, but this window remains without explanation.

OK, just learned something: At the very bottom of the window there is a text box. (not very prominent.)

Looking through the options now.
