Hello, Proxmox community!

I’m facing a strange issue in my Proxmox environment (see attached images). All VMs in the pve10 server are showing with a question mark (?). I'm using Proxmox VE version 8, and this inconsistency is making it difficult to manage the virtual machines.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or knows how to resolve it? Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Olá, comunidade do Proxmox!

Hi @Eliezer Pereira da Silva , welcome to the forum

The question marks are likely caused by communication issues with the pvestatd daemon. This daemon is responsible for probing various internal and external resources.

It has been reported on the forum that a misconfigured or slow-responding statistics server can sometimes cause pvestatd to slow down. Similarly, bad, missing, or slow storage can also lead to similar symptoms.

Given that other nodes are functioning correctly, there’s a good chance that the network on pve10 is misconfigured. You might want to:
  • Check the MTU settings.
  • Review the system logs for errors or warnings.
  • Consult the pvestatd man page for guidance on running it interactively in debug mode for further troubleshooting.
Good luck!

I was facing the issue where VMs were showing up with question marks (?) in Proxmox, as shown in the image I attached earlier. This problem was preventing me from properly managing the virtual machines on the pve10 node.

After some troubleshooting, I managed to fix the issue by restarting the pvestatd service. The command I used was:

systemctl restart pvestatd
Once I ran this command, the VM statuses returned to normal, and I could manage them again without any issues.
