I tried moving one of our servers disk files from a storage array that is degraded needing a new disk to a different array in the same physical host and it got to 100% and then gave this error.
When I went into the IPV4 settings to change the IP to the correct static IP, it gave me the error
"The IP address you entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter which is no longer present in the computer, etc."
I went ahead with the static assignment and had to remove a bad route in the OS's routing table but I can ping everything on all networks and can ping all outside IP's but strangely, I can't browse any websites other than google and perform google searches.
This is the DC/DNS server so for the static DNS settings, I set it to it's own IP (the IP address I put up above it for the IP assignment and secondary dns as DC02's IP, our second DNS server). Conditional forwarders in the DNS settings are 8.8.4.4 and 9.9.9.9, both of which the server can ping.
Domain PC's can do a flush DNS and register DNS no problem and browse the internet no problem so DNS appears to be functioning ok but I haven't checked the windows event logs for DNS yet.
I also tested adding a new NIC and let it get DHCP and internet works fine when I disable the main one and enable the new one.
Any ideas what happened here and what to troubleshoot?
The backup for the server is a month old (I'm new to the company so I haven't gotten a chance to address this yet) so falling back to an old backup isnt really an option and I'm just wondering if I am chasing the wrong rabbit here with windows settings or if there is some VM setting I need to be looking at instead. I'm new to Proxmox so I'm not exactly sure what adapter the OS used to have that it thought still had the server's static IP. To my knowledge, the MAC address for the NIC didn't change.
Worth noting (possibly) is that I rebooted the DC last night and when I logged back in, the gateway IP I had manually assigned was removed. RE-adding it re-established network connectivity but like before, only google/google searching on the web works and trying to access a website a google search finds does not work but I can ping any public IP address/website no problem.
Edit:
I've done a print route on both domain controllers and they are all identical save for the different static IP's of each server.
I powered it back on and was able to login but now the NIC that originally was being used and had a static IP appears to not be there and there is a new NIC with a DHCP address.drive-sata0: transferred 55.1 GiB of 55.1 GiB (100.00%) in 14m 34s, ready
