[SOLVED] VM-Backup Hornetsecurity (Altaro)

Hi everyone,

Since we use VM Backup for our Hyper-V servers and the software has recently started supporting PVE as well, we wanted to use it for the newer PVEs too.

However, our experiences have varied greatly; for example:

A cluster with 4 nodes—all of which are essentially identical—2 work fine, but 2 don’t work at all.

Standalone—doesn’t work at all.



Does anyone here in the forum use VM Backup, and how is it working for you?

Hi Andi, what exactly fails, and what error message do you get? Since two identical nodes work, comparing the logs of one working and one failing node would be helpful.
 
I was able to resolve the issue.

We had previously used Nakivo for backups, and even though no jobs were running and the Transporter had already been uninstalled, that old installation was interfering with the Hornet backups. After (uninstalling and) restarting PVE and the VM, the backup ran successfully.

I know from another few cases, where backup solutions interfered too and running them separately helped - unfortunately I can't find the link anymore.
