vlan aware bridge and VPN client in VM

I used to create a stable VPN (IPSEC) connection (with shrewsoft) from my VM in a Proxmox-Node to an external remote firewall over several firewalls.
This works since over 2 years without any problems.

After I changed my linux bridges to VLAN aware bridges to simplify my network config, the tunnel is establishing as expected but will not send any data over the tunnel.
Changing back to a VLAN bond and create a normal bridge everything works again.

Is there an explanation for that behaviour?

Hey,

that's hard to tell, but it seems likely that the problem is related to shrewsoft(since it is quite old and doesn't seem to be maintained anymore). Maybe try something like https://www.wireguard.com/.
