Hi,
I use Proxmox VE 6.2-4 for a long time and I am very happy with it.
I just wanted to use Proxmox Backup Server 3.3.3. But I can not connect it to Proxmox VE.

I could not find below menu in VE in case of new feature I guess?

How can I attach BackupServer ZFS to VE 6.2-4 in some how?

Hi,

The integration of PBS into PVE came with PVE 6.3 - so you will need to update.
But I highly encourage you to update to the latest release anyway, since you 6.x is long EOL and won't receive updates, including security updates!

Please see:
- Upgrade from 6.x to 7.0
- Upgrade from 7 to 8

Hi,
Yes you're right infact it's always better to use newest one but I don't have time now. I need to go with it little bit more.

Can I upgrade Profmox 6.2-4 to 6.3 anyway?

P.S.: If I make backup all VM's to external drive and reinstall Version 8 than Can I restore VM's again?

Yes, just follow the normal system upgrade procedure.

P.S.: If I make backup all VM's to external drive and reinstall Version 8 than Can I restore VM's again?
That's also a possibility, if you rather reinstall than just upgrade 6 -> 7 -> 8.

Hi,
I use 6.2-4 now and my repository file like below.
Should I chanhge anything before then upgrade to 6.4?

'You need to remove the enterprise repository (from /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-enterprise.list (or something similar) and add the no-subscription repository: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs-6/pve-admin-guide.html#sysadmin_no_subscription_repo

PS: There are a lot of threads on this forum about exactly this issue with the automatically installed enterprise repository (which requires a paid support subscription) and people having trouble replacing it with the no-subscription repository.

The script comes with the upgrade to the latest 6.4.

Debian 10 (on which Proxmox VE 6.x is based) is so old that they probably moved the repository or something. If only I could copy and paste the error text in a search engine, then I would look it up for you.

Hi,
I used below command
apt-get update --allow-releaseinfo-change
And now
apt-get dist-upgrade

Waiting for code finish? Cross the fingers. :)

Hi,
Fresh is the best... ;)

You're right. But I got a question? Are the structure of VM files changing between the Proxmox version?
If not, It's very easy to backup all VM's to PBS and reinstall again.

As far as I know, backups should just work. And backups should be backwards compatible. (Unless otherwise specificly stated in the upgrade docs.)

I would however stongly recommend to not use PBS in your case and instead use vzdump. (And upload the backup file to a usb stick or wherever you want to store it for the time being.)
This is because your proxmox ve is so out-of-date that I would not be suprised if the latest version of PBS had compatability issues with your out-of-date proxmox ve.

Hi,
But now I upgraded to 6.4 and can join pbs to VE without any problem.
Tonight it will back up first time in the PBS.

If VE 6.4 can work with PBS than I can fresh install 8 and connect to same PBS, can't I?...
