user.conf verify entry failed

I was trying to do a shell command pmgqm status, and I am getting the following error:
/etc/pmg/user.conf: verify entry failed
username: value does not match the regex pattern
Same happens when I try to use the pmgqm to send out the quarantine email.
I checked the user config file and it only has two entries, one for admin and one for root, but nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Any suggestions?

I figured this out myself. All I had to do was to add a name and email address for the user root, and that error went away.
