Hi,

I have a large 20TB disk which I would like to use by several VMs on file level. Something like an SMB or NFS share.
I obviously can create a Win VM just for this, but I wonder if this can be done via Proxmox directly?

Thanks
Alex

No, file level access is not possible concurrently without corrupting your data unless you use a cluster filesystem on all machines the disk is attached to.

You could install NFS server and export the formatted and mounted drive to your VMs. You'd be able to share the data without corruption if you used NFS protocol.
Its not ideal. Its best to use NAS for NAS things and Hypervisor for Hypervisor things. However, for homelab - its fine.
