Hello,

I have installed a hackintosh on my Proxmox Virtual Environment server which is on VMware Workstation.
Because I would like to use my hackintosh with the 3D accelerator to use some software.
Because I understand that VMware Workstation does not allow to use the 3d accelerator but on a virtual promox server yes.
How do I get my Proxmox server to recognize my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 3060).

I use a laptop too.

Hi,

I am afraid it is impossible to get MacOS to recognized a 3060 since there are no drivers for the 30 series for MacOS. See this thread for a list of compatible cards.

I installed a Proxmox Virtual Environment VM in the VMware Workstation hypervisor and the hackintosh VM is in the Proxmox Virtual Environment VM.

(I installed a VM hackintosh in a VM Proxmox)

A couple of things:

vmware does allow 3D acceleration

Getting 3d acceleration to work from the integrated graphics won't really be possible in the scenario you are describing. The only solution I can think of is dualbooting and trying to get the hackintosh to run on bare metal. Is that worth the effort? You will have to decide that. The more time-efficient thing might just be buying a (used) mac, depending on what you are doing.

Sorry for the bad news

The problem with passing through the iGPU is that only one device can use the device at a time, so your base operating system won't be able to use and render anything. Some laptops with a dedicated GPU (like you have), have a mux switch, then you can use the dedicated gpu on your host system and the iGPU on the vm. Assuming your laptop can do that, it might be possible to pass through the iGPU (This is, as far as I am aware, not officially supported by proxmox but still possible) and then get it recognized in the vm, although PCIE passthrough as well as Hackintoshes are notoriously finicky. So this might be an alternative for you? But in my opinion this could end up reallllly hacky and frustrating and I wonder if the iGPU's 3D acceleration would improve your workload that much with this solution.
This is my 3rd (non-recommended) solution. Hope one of the 3 options are possible and work out well for you
