Any opinions?

Is the USB 3 support in Proxmox reliable enough for backups?

If you get a decent dock can you swap regular sata drives every day without damaging them?

couple of our VM's top 300GB so fast backup is desirable :)

Thanks - Lindsay

I use USB 3 for my Proxmox backups. Support is built in. On average I get 120MB/s using lzo compression.

When I rotate backup drives, I just umount the drive and then mount -a once the new drive is connected as I have an fstab entry for the usb drive.

Thanks bhennigar, I'm experimenting with it at the moment. You add the mount director as a Backup SR?

I'm only getting 45MB/s at the moment, but that may be a problem my NAS.
