USB Passthrough Vendor/Device ID vs USB Port ?

I need to use USB drive for open media vault NAS VM.

Just trying to understand which way is better to use USB Passthrough Vendor/Device ID or USB Port ?
Both options show my USB drive connected

A port can change the Vendor/Device ID is normally the same.
