USB pass tru slow

Hello,

We use a portable usb disk on a VM for backup archive....

Thru USB vendor / device ID...
The other option make no difference.

Is there a faster way to do this (so i get faster usb speeds)?

You could try passing the whole controller the disk is attached to, through to the guest.
Sometimes this improves performance and compatibility.

How must we do that then?
Its a usb removable disk, connected to the server.

Find the controller it is connected to, for example with lsusb -vvt and make sure it is the only connected device.
Then pass through the controller via PCI Passthrough [0]. Please provide the output of the command above, together with the output of lspci -nnk.

Was not working for me, i dont see the usb disk.
So that was not working.

There must be a better way to do this?
If i but the usb to a normal pc, its super fast.....

Which operating system are you running in the guest?

And what do you consider a `normal pc`? Have you tested it on your PVE host as well?

I have tested it on a normal desktop workstation.

With the same usb disk.....
I get 1,25 GB per sec.!!!!!

On the Vm i get 10 MB/s

Tested also on the server with a other usb port, no difference, very slow.
