Sorry for opening a new thread, but I don't find the older one anymore.

Currently, the only way to install PVE from an USB stick, is to use the whole USB stick for PVE.

As I have a 32GB USB sticks with tens ISO files loaded and bootable via syslinux, i would like to use the same usb stick even for PVE. This is not possible, because PVE tries to look for cdrom during the boot phase, it doesn't find it and it blocks due to missing data.

Is possible to fix this allowing a direct boot from iso without the need to "burn" the iso on the usb stick ?

please file a feature request at bugzilla.proxmox.com and include the relevant commands/configs/.. how you create your usb stick. I'd like to tackle this for the final 5.0 iso if time permits..

I'm sorry but I don't have the usb drive with me to try and check.

There is another thread on this forum with some log messages.
It would be nice to also have the fix backported to the current ISO. It shouldn't be too hard to fix
