Hello. I am trying to get my 3D printer hooked up to proxmox to pass through to an Ubuntu server. I cannot get it to connect. I have tried loading CH341 driver to no avail. It simply doesn’t show up. I can connect the printer to my Ubuntu desktop with the same cables and it works fine. Any direction anyone can provide would be helpful!!

I tried the steps here: https://github.com/juliagoda/CH341SER

When I issue lsusb on proxmox, the printer doesn’t show up.

I am still very new to Linux in general (been using Ubuntu and proxmox less than six months). I have two proxmox servers setup and neither will see it but see other USB devices without issue. If I remember correctly, /dev/ttyUSB doesn’t even exist on either of my servers. It’s been a few weeks since I have messed with it.

Forgot to mention, that I did have this working before, but the problem came in when I swapped the main board on my ended 3 printer from the 4.2.2 board to the 4.2.7 board.

So, the new mainboard and your ubuntu desktop recognizes your USB device and PVE does not? That is very strange. Have you updated your PVE to the most recent version? Maybe the ender mainboard has only a clone of the ch341 build in and the PVE kernel has problems with it?

Correct. Ubuntu desktop sees it fine with all the same cables but proxmox will not. I do have proxmox updated to version 7.4-3. Wouldn’t work on the version I had before that either. Found something out there about updating the kernel headers and messed with that. I would have to search again to find specifics but was above anything I’ve messed with yet.
