Hi Team,

I am new in the proxmox world and I am finding it very difficult to understand how can I upload VZdump file directly into local-LVM. I tried to mount a window shared folder through CIFS but get no success. Is there a way to get it?

What do you want to do? Do you want to restore a backup?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I want to restore a backup. It is 50 GB backup and there is no other way to do that. Can you help me with this?

You will have to make it available to Proxmox VE. First you need to define a storage with "VZDump backup file" enabled in the content field. The predefined "local" storage should be such a storage. Creating a new CIFS or NFS storage would work as well. ProxmoxVE will need write permissions on the share to create the expected directory structure.

Then move the backup file into the "dump" subdirectory and it should show up in the GUI from which you can easily restore it.

If you have enough space in the "local" storage you can move the backup file there with SCP for example. The default path where it is located is /var/lib/vz/dump.
