We have 7 nodes in our prod cluster and it's time for us to upgrade to Proxmox v9. Already did it in our test and dev clusters, and we have a service window scheduled for prod on tuesday.
But in order to make the service window work we have to upgrade ceph first, during business hours.
So I'm just wondering if it's safe to upgrade to ceph v19 on a Proxmox 8.4.19 cluster?
We don't want to touch any pve packages, just the ceph ones.
We estimate it to be very safe since we have 7 nodes, and plenty of space, to upgrade one node fully before moving on to the next.
But what is your professional opinion?
In my estimation this should not require any Proxmox node reboots, and no VM reboots. Ceph storage should continue working, and only require restarting ceph services on one node, while that ceph OSD is out.
