Hello,

I have a VM running on Windows Server 2021 R2 . I want to upgrade to the latest one. When I do this is there anything I have to change with files and things before changing it or will it be as simple as changing it on the proxmox panel?

Thanks

Ryan

hi,

do you mean windows server 2012 r2?

what do you mean exactly?
changing the OS type on the user interface doesn't do anything inside the host. it just changes how the guest is perceived by PVE (to make some necessary adjustments based on type) but does not influence the guest itself.

if you want to upgrade to the latest windows server version this becomes a windows administration task, as in you will need to upgrade your windows installation from inside the VM, or set up a new VM with the version of windows you'd like.
