Hello,
We are currently planing to upgrade our LXC containers running Debian 8 to Debian 9. Since they are proxmox-cutomized containers and not vanilla Debian - Virtual Machines, I understand there might be some caveats, possibly related to switching from sysV init to systemd init.
I read some threads on this forum about this upgrade (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/u...debian-8-to-debian-9-now-it-wont-start.40949/, and https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/upgrading-debian-8-0-lxc-containers-to-debian-9.47001/) , so it seems installing systemd on the Jessie container before upgrading might be the right course.
Basically, we have two choices:
- install systemd on the container, and then upgrade it to Stretch
- create a new Debian 9 container and migrate data and stuff from the Jessie one to the Stretch one
Based on your personal experience, which choice would you recommend ? What are the differences between a container upgraded from Jessie (debian 8 template) to Stretch and a the debian 9 template ?
Thank you !
