Upgrade 8.0.3 to 8.1 doesn't appear to work..

I've got 3 nodes, two we got last month and have 8.0.3 on them and one which has 8.1 on it as I got that node last week.

They're all in a cluster and it's working well, but I'd prefer to have them all on the same version, so i tried to upgrade the 8.0.3 and even after rebooting, they're still at 8.0.3

Is the update only available via the enterprise repo at the moment?

Ahh - ok, turns out you need to add the free repo, who'd have guessed. I presumed it was active by default (dangerous I know) unless you added an enterprise key and it wasn't mentioned in any of the videos I watched when I set up proxmox that you need to add the free repo in!

d'oh - yes, it's now updating. Thanks for the pointer. Hope this reply helps other noobs who make the same misake.

i use proxmox from verison 4 - never had any problems using a pve-no-subscription repository, it's not dangerous

I think its marketing

Yeah, imho it would be nice if they had a repo that was production, but say a month behind or something - rather one that they simply say "don't use in production", it does imply that features get pushed to it early.

Not everyone can immediately ask the boss for or pay up the 3x PVE & 1 x PBS community licenses. Personally I suspect we will, but I'll need to point to 6-12 months of reliable, demonstrable use & benefit before I can go to my boss and say we really should pay a few thousand £/$/€ a year supporting it, despite it being free.

If they gave you a 6 month Enterprise repo key free with each install, that would be a good idea, so you can get it up and started and if you get the system established and in-production you've got a good chance of converting that 6 month trial Enterprise key into a renewal, rather than using the unsupported repo and realising that you don't actually need the Enterprise repo!

But hey, it sounds like they're doing well without my advice, so I don't expect any change to their approach :)
