hello,

if you go with a fresh Proxmox install and migrate all VMs through Backup/Restore. What data has to be restored besides /etc/pve/storage.cfg ? What about Firewall-rules? Are they shipped with the Backup? I don´t think so after unpacking one example VZ-Container, but I´m not sure.

Referring to this: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_3.x_to_4.0#New_installation

Maybe this manual is not complete (yet)? If I restore the old *.fw data, would this be enough? What about other settings (maybe I forgot something)?

Thanks for your answer,

Afox

thank you, is there something more to think of when migrating to a fresh new Proxmox? what about the *.conf files? can they be reused?

speaking of firewall again, I also think that the host.fw (/etc/pve/nodes/#nodename#/host.fw) should be saved and restored, too (if possible to reuse).

Best regards,

Afox
