Updating

I use Proxmox since V2. Single nodes, clusters with and without Ceph. Since then I conduct my updates normal with "apt update / apt upgrade" without any issues ... ever and I do the major upgrades e.g. 8 to 9 according to the documentation. Also without any issues. Today I stumbled over this telling me I'm doing it wrong:

I can't get the point in this video. When I do not change the sources or parts of the sources how can I get a mix of releases breaking my system?

Ok, after a bit of Reddit fun, I'd like to see a bit of clarification in the documentation regarding updates versus upgrades. The documentation is contradictory in a few places.

In the current host system administration documentation at https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-sysadmin.html#system_software_updates we read that for updating the host system from the CLI the following commands are used:

apt-get dist-upgrade
