I apologize if a similar topic was raised earlier ...
I downloaded the test.pxar archive as a separate file to my linux computer. Can I unpack / restore test.pxar on my local machine using roxmox-backup-client?

yes, take a look here [0]

though you will have to compile the source [1] yourself or install the debian packages from our repository (if you're on a different distribution it may vary, there is an AUR package for archlinux as well)

I think it works if used on the BPX host - screenshots below. I downloaded (downloaded via the web) a separate xxx.pxar file to my computer and try to open it.
