Hi everyone,

I am running a fresh install of Proxmox and have created a new LVM thin pool named A1 alongside the default local-lvm. I added it as a storage device in the Web interface and it is also present in the /etc/pve/storage.cfg file. However, when attempting to create a new VM I do not see either A1 or local-lvm as options under "Resource Pools". Is there an additional step I need to take? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi @Smaxbang , welcome to the forum.

"Resource Pool" and "Storage Pool" are two different objects. The two serve completely different purpose, and you likely don't have any "Resource Pools".
At this point, I recommend leaving it empty and continuing with the Wizard to next screen.

Cheers

Thank you for the clarification. Is there an easy way to control where the VM is physically stored after creation?

Are you asking about storage? That selection is two "Next" clicks later, under "Disks" tab.

Yep completely missed that. Got too tunnel visioned on the resource pool. Apologies for the wasted time and thanks for the help.
