Unable to see Items in storage via GUI

Hello All!

I am a new user and just did a brand new install of the 7.1 version as well as 7.0 and see the same results. No matter if I add a dir or a SMB share I am unable to see any files via the GUI, however I am able to see the files when I ssh to the server and issue a 'ls -la' command. Any hints or areas that I should look into?

Hi,
the Proxmox VE web interface does not display the full file system, but only the storage content it can work with (the directories dump, images, template, etc. are created for that, but again not all files from there will be displayed). Just start using the storage for some operations, e.g. create a VM disk on it or download a container template and the content should show up.

So I get that, but I would of thought that if I mounted a smb share it would display anything that was already in that directory via the GUI (which currently doesnt). If I get on the CLI and 'cd /mnt/pve/<mountpoint>' and issue a 'ls -la' I do see the files that are in the Dir... but not on the GUI. I've tried everything from changing permissions and owners of the files to reinstalling both 7.0 and 7.1 with the same results.

No, as already written the UI does not show the full filesystem structure. That's because you wouldn't be able to do anything with non-PVE related files in the UI anyways.
