Unable to load nvidia drivers (not blacklisted)

I'm having trouble getting nvidia drivers to load on my Proxmox 6.2 server. I get the following error when trying to run nvidia-smi.

root@sparta:~# nvidia-smi
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.


See my below outputs:

I even added the following per another post I found on this topic:

echo 'nvidia' >> /etc/modules
echo 'nvidia_uvm' >> /etc/modules

vi /etc/udev/rules.d/70-nvidia.rules

# Add the two following lines.
KERNEL=="nvidia", RUN+="/bin/bash -c '/usr/bin/nvidia-smi -L && /bin/chmod 666 /dev/nvidia*'"
KERNEL=="nvidia_uvm", RUN+="/bin/bash -c '/usr/bin/nvidia-modprobe -c0 -u && /bin/chmod 0666 /dev/nvidia-uvm*'"

I had same issue with nvidia driver, I followed this guide and fixed the problem

Simply running the install from that link did not help. Will check that guide you posted in case there was something else needed. Thanks.

Still no dice. No matter how many different ways I try to install the driver I get the same issue. Trying to load the module manually I get this:

root@sparta:~# modprobe nvidia
modprobe: FATAL: Module nvidia-current not found in directory /lib/modules/5.4.60-1-pve
modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:979 command_do() Error running install command for nvidia
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia': Operation not permitted

I was able to get the drivers installed using the below guide.
